September 1st Fishing Report

As the end of summer nears, the bite is going to keep getting better!

The walleye bite has picked up this week. We have started boating some big fish on crank baits in 24-28 feet of water. However, our summer go-to tactic to put fish in the box is still spinners with night crawlers in 14 to 16 feet of water.

We’re getting good quantities of fish, mostly on the North end of the Lake. But as the water temperatures start to cool coming into fall, the fish will start feeding even more aggressively. And when the emerald shiners migrate into the Rainy River, giant walleye will following them. It’s a great time to catch giant, trophy walleye.

And of course, we’re working on our ice fishing gear! It won’t be long before we’re setting hooks on hard water!
