October 10th Fishing Report

The fall walleye bite has been great.  Our go-to tactic has been jigging with 3/8 oz jigs and frozen shiners, with gold being the hot color. We’re primarily targeting rocky areas north of Garden Island, specifically areas with a clear rock-to-mud transition. Fish are holding in depths of 24 feet and 13-18 feet of water. The bite is fairly steady with the best action first thing in the mornings. We are still seeing an occasional jumbo perch or crappie caught and we had few angers tie into sturgeon.  The shiners are back in the river which brings the bigger fish looking to strap on the feed bag. With water temps on the lake right around 58, the fish are active and feeding.
